Choosing a wedding date can be slightly overwhelming for outdoor elopements.

The best time to elope in Washington depends on which season you want to experience.

I create a list of five things to consider before you pick an elopement date.

Washington Seasons

Washington’s weather is a little crazy. It can go from torrential down poor to sunny skies in a matter of minutes.

Although the weather can be unpredictable we do have beautiful seasonal transitions.

Here is the statistical breakdown of our weather patterns and some additional scenic wildlife information to consider.

  • december is the rainiest month of the year

  • drizzly rain from december to march

  • wildflowers can be spotted from early may through august

  • july is the driest month of the year

  • august sees the most sun

  • perfect fall days are found in september and october

  • larch trees always turn yellow in october

Tourism

When Washington’s weather is good you will find a lot of tourists in our hood.

If you are looking for a secluded elopement - consider the tourism shoulder seasons, such as early spring or fall.

Avoid eloping during spring break dates or consider getting married once college students have gone back to school.

All these little tips could add up to fewer people being on the trail.

Weekdays > Weekends

It is virtually impossible to hike on a weekend without seeing troves of people on popular trails.

I always suggest that you elope on a weekday instead of a weekend.

If you can elope Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

I promise you it will be a much better experience.

Guests and Vendors

Once you have an idea of when you want to elope then it’s time to call your guests.

Give everyone enough warning ahead of time so they can take off work and make the proper arrangements.

Remember, you can invite whoever you want to your wedding. If you are still working on your guest list, read my post about who to invite to your wedding.

Before you pick a date make sure it works for your vendors.

For instance, if there is a photographer you know you want, make sure they are available on that date.

Other vendors to consider are officiants, florists, and hair/makeup artist.
